President — Greg Allen

G’day to you. I’ve just become the President for the 2019/20 year. Sometimes called GA or Pappa Smurf, I’ve been in the Club since 1992. During that time, I’ve had a HSV Walkinshaw and a HDT VL Group A, these days I trundle around in one of the last CV8Z Monaros made. I tend to keep my cars in original condition and enjoy them as they were built, rather than them “bigger and better than the next guy”.

The HSVOCWA has been a large part of my life for the last 25 years, during which time I’ve been to the Nationals, competed in Classic Rallys, Tarmac Targa Rallys (both here and interstate) along with the many events that the Club has successfully organised and run over the years.

In 2017, I retired after working at UWA for the last 31 years apparently this was supposed to give me more “free” time to do the things I wanted to do – Ha! What I hope to be able to do is spend more time with the wife, Jenni, of course and more time enjoying the company of the great friends I made in the Club.

Vice President — Jason Brotherson

I joined the club back in the early 90’s when we used to meet at Melville Motors in Attadale (member number 24 to be precise) and been involved on and off in the club ever since then. I have stepped up to assist Greg and the Committee having watched on as a ‘helper’ for some time and seeing the commitment and hard work from each Committee member, it was time to help where I can to keep this club as one of the best run in WA. I met my lovely wife through the club and made some great friends.

Unlike our wonderful President I like to modify every car I own to stupid levels, as horsepower makes up for lack of driving talent.

My day job, I am the Chief Executive Officer of Pharmacy 777 running the Australia wide operations for our 100 plus stores and 700 staff plus a Chairman on an Oil and Gas Company Board.

Cars are a passion, my wife and son are very patient to put up with my many excuses for owning so many loud cars.

The HSV club and motorsport I consider my hobby and outlet; my car history is varied having driven Holden V8’s since the age of 20, my second car was a 85 VK Calais Director then an 88 Walkinshaw and moving on to own every HSV product since (over 40 cars in total, yes I have issues) the only series I overlooked was the VP series (bloody ugly sorry Dave) plus can’t lay claim to have owned a W427 although the heart of one now lives in my VX track car.

I own up to my Wife, Tax man and Bank manager with my membership cars as my 2014 VF GTS plus 1984 Vk Group 3 Brocky with my need for speed in my VX Clubsport replica tarmac car plus other cars and SUV’s for daily driving duties.

I am easy to spot in the club; I will be the one with 777 plastered all over my car, will have the shiniest paint (neat freak), wearing the wonderful array of flower shirts to keep Dougy entertained. I keep suggesting a HSV club shirt in a floral pattern but this has yet to get any traction for some reason

Treasurer — Daniel Manester

Having joined the club in 2015 after purchasing a HSV Gen-F GTS I have been able to expand upon my life-long interest in Motorsport. In 2016 I built my first track car, a VX Clubsport R8, which has enabled me to enjoy competing regularly in club track days and social events wherever possible.

I own Artform Industries - a bespoke kitchen manufacturing and design company looking after builders, home owners and renovators with all their cabinet requirements.

I enjoy living in the Perth Hills with my wife, Jen and 3 young sons who I hope one day will share the same passion I have for Motorsport and this family oriented club as I do. Some of my many other interests are American BBQ, Home brewing and above all else enjoying camping trips away with family and friends

This being my first year on the executive committee I hope to be an asset to the club and look forward to seeing you all at our various events.

Secretary — Tracey Kooiman

Tracey joined the HSVOCWA in 2006 as an enthusiastic competitor in her VZ Clubsport R8 and with husband Mitchell providing support from the wrong side of the pit wall!   After 15 years of working as a Real Estate Representative in the semi rural hills and Toodyay areas, she is now practicing being semi retired and has turned her hand to become a small farm flower grower when not travelling this great country of ours. Wife to Mitchell for almost 40 years, “Mum” to 3 adult sons and also Nanna to 2 little girls keeps her busy.

Tracey joined the Club’s Committee in 2008 as the Merchandise Officer for 2 years and then continued into the Executive Committee as Secretary from 2010. After 2 years of blasting around the track in her Clubsport, she took a year off from competition after knee surgery, retiring the manual Clubsport to only Social events and returned with her sports automatic VE HSVi SSV Ute for several more years of fun.

Having recently sold the Ute, her passion for speed has subsided, although the Clubsport still awakens that yearning, she is still active with social events where possible, even in a non GM 4wd!

Membership Officer — Kym Jacobs

I joined the HSV club in June 2020 after owning my VX Clubsport R8 for 3 and a half years and finally deciding it should be enjoyed and driven more, rather than hiding under covers in the garage. I have always loved cars, having owned nearly 30 in my 20 years of driving. I have always been a Holden V8 fan, from when I was a kid and first got an understanding of different vehicles. I spent a lot of time and money modifying all shapes and sizes of cars from a Subaru WRX STI to 100 series Landcruiser and many cars in between. Currently, besides the VX, I also own a 2013 VF SSV W310 wagon and a Subaru Forester turbo. Fun fact, I have never owned a Ford of any kind.

Previously, I helped run all aspects of the Perth-WRX car club, from forum administration and moderation, organising motorsport events, cruises and meets, merchandise and trips away.

I successfully took the club to its 4th Motorvation champion trophy in a row in 2008, where I single handedly organised the entire weekend for the club and its members and the 20 odd
participants. I rarely take a back seat to anything I am involved in, so I decided after only 9 months in the HSV club, that it was something I wanted to get involved with and help out with and was nominated to the Memberships Committee position in April 2021, partially filling the gaping hole left by Jamie Gilbert.

Outside of the club, I work for GHD Engineering Consultants as a Senior Survey Project Director, where I have been employed for 14 years. I am a father to 2 kids and spend a lot of my spare time volunteering with my wife at motorsport events such as Targa West, Targa South West, Forest Rally and other WARC events with Team Hotel.

My wife and I met through our involvement in both Perth-WRX and through official duties at Targa West in 2010. She is very understanding of my passion for cars, but hates that I buy andsell cars so often, however, I have slowed down a bit with that these days (at least I think so)

I look forward to doing this position proud and spending years helping out with the HSV Owners Club. I look forward to meeting many of you out and about.

 Motorsport Manager—Mike Clynk

I joined this great club in 1991, I think, member No 35 so Jason Brotherson has me covered there. I am lucky enough to be one of 3 life members currently and cherish that title immensely. I enjoy everything about what the owners club stands for and love the competition side of things and always have.

I have owned a couple of genuine HDT/HSV’s over the journey but decided early on that they are too good to modify so bought my beloved VK Blue Meanie which started as a beautiful street car replica and I have slowly but surely converted it into a trailer-sailer track only monster.

See you at the track!!!

Merchandise Officer — Leonie Hall

Hi everyone! I am the very proud owner of an E2 Clubby. She is my first but hopefully not my last HSV. I joined the club in 2017 mostly with the intention of going along on a few cruises and maybe displaying in show-n-shines. Just a couple of years later and here I am a fully-fledged member of the committee.

Away from the club I am a Branch Coordinator/Administrator for a large Australian owned workplace needs company. So if you are ever in need of stationery I am the person to see.

Very much looking forward to being the Merchandise Officer and hopefully getting to know as many members as possible

Race Results — Dave Egan

David joined the club through the Brian Gardner 1st year free HSV club membership offer after buying his 2009 VE Clubsport. Track days began after popping down to Barbagallo and saying hi to a few club members who encouraged and guided him into track days. After its first few years as a daily driver the motorsport infection spread and with the help of other club members the Clubsport morphed into a dedicated track car.

Outside of the club David works for Dnow Australia a Global distribution business supplying valves, pumps, PPE and MRO to the Oil & Gas and Mining Industry

Social Events - Shane Harrison

Hi everyone I’m Shane I’m an automotive spray painter by trade and have painted every thing you can think of ranging from European classics to Italian sportscars, and even Volgren buses!
These days I own Quality Shine Detailing - applying ceramic coating and the good old fashioned polish and wax to all forms of transport.
The passion all started from the day I got got behind the wheel really, my first car was a V8 Kingswood and I’ve owned a VTSS, WH Statesman, along with numerous other Holdens. Coming from a massive Holden family & watching Peter perfect growing up it was always destined.
My partner and myself own a loud and obnoxious VE R8 Clubsport LSA, with a healthy cam and some other mods such as coil over suspension and it runs on a percentage of e85.
I recently joined the HSVOCWA in 2020 as I wanted to get involved into social gatherings, show n shines etc, and now I'm catching the motorsport bug. Since joining we have enjoyed being apart of a well organised family oriented car club. I look forward to giving everything I have to offer and also learning off some of the older gents (Mike sideways Miller) in the club.

Associates Representative - Mike Miller

I have been a member of this great club since the 1990’s and it has consumed my social life since then. I have had a couple of club cars only. The mighty brown VC sle which circulated around the club for a while. I then found my pride and joy VH SS (XV2) which I have slowly modified into a serious race/targa car which is still road legal would you believe.

I have raced all over this great country since immigrating from NZ back when Jesus was a boy. Bathurst, Phillip Island, Darwin, Sandown, The Bend and of course many laps at Wanneroo plus 10 years of Targa West competition.

I was truly touched to be given life membership to our great club last year and truly cherish this honour. I love helping out around the club in anyway possible and enjoy talking to new members, infact I like talking to anybody anytime.
