President — Greg Allen

G’day to you. I’ve just become the President for the 2019/20 year. Sometimes called GA or Pappa Smurf, I’ve been in the Club since 1992. During that time, I’ve had a HSV Walkinshaw and a HDT VL Group A, these days I trundle around in one of the last CV8Z Monaros made. I tend to keep my cars in original condition and enjoy them as they were built, rather than them “bigger and better than the next guy”.

The HSVOCWA has been a large part of my life for the last 25 years, during which time I’ve been to the Nationals, competed in Classic Rallys, Tarmac Targa Rallys (both here and interstate) along with the many events that the Club has successfully organised and run over the years.

In 2017, I retired after working at UWA for the last 31 years apparently this was supposed to give me more “free” time to do the things I wanted to do – Ha! What I hope to be able to do is spend more time with the wife, Jenni, of course and more time enjoying the company of the great friends I made in the Club.

Vice President — Dave Hodges

Hi everyone! Feeling very honored to be selected as the Club VP for the 2019/ 2020 year. I’ve been in the club since 2015 and have enjoyed every minute. Looking forward to working with GA and the HSVOCWA crew and giving back to the club that has given us so much. My wife Anja and I joined the club originally to start participating in the track days, and found the culture to be very supportive and inclusive, especially for new comers. Our daily drives are my HSV W557 GTSR (Phantom Black of course) and Anja’s Son of a Gun R8 W557 LSA Tourer. We also participate in the Targa West tarmac rally series in our green and black DNA (Dave N Anja) Racing VF SSV. I hold onto the wheel and Anja tells me where to go (she has had years of practice). Having a supportive partner that is as into motorsport and cars as much as I am is truly amazing, and helps with getting ‘budget’ approved for upgrades!

An Engineer by trade, I’ve been in the Oil and Gas industry for most of my working career, and have recently taken a sabbatical to slow life down a bit and spend more time at home with our two young boys (both of whom are not interested in cars, are they even ours?) When not playing with cars, I’m typically thinking about, making plans or scheduling time to play with cars.

Treasurer — Daniel Manester

Having joined the club in 2015 after purchasing a HSV Gen-F GTS I have been able to expand upon my life-long interest in Motorsport. In 2016 I built my first track car, a VX Clubsport R8, which has enabled me to enjoy competing regularly in club track days and social events wherever possible.

I own Artform Industries - a bespoke kitchen manufacturing and design company looking after builders, home owners and renovators with all their cabinet requirements.

I enjoy living in the Perth Hills with my wife, Jen and 3 young sons who I hope one day will share the same passion I have for Motorsport and this family oriented club as I do. Some of my many other interests are American BBQ, Home brewing and above all else enjoying camping trips away with family and friends

This being my first year on the executive committee I hope to be an asset to the club and look forward to seeing you all at our various events.

Secretary — Tracey Kooiman

Tracey joined the HSVOCWA in 2006 as an enthusiastic competitor in her VZ Clubsport R8 and with husband Mitchell providing support from the wrong side of pit wall!

When she is not enjoying letting her hair down with the club, she is a Real Estate Representative in Perth’s semi rural hills area, holds an Associate Diploma in Architectural Drafting & Design and runs the family rural property, a wife to Mitchell for over 30 years, “Mum” to 3 mechanically minded adult sons and now been made a “Nanna”.

Tracey joined the Club’s Committee for the first time in 2008 as the Merchandise Officer for 2 years and continued on in the role of Secretary from 2010.  After 2 years of blasting around the track in her Clubsport, she took a year off from competition after knee surgery, retiring the manual Clubsport to only special events, and has now returned with her automatic VE SSV Ute as a track car and with Mitchell now a rival in his VT Clubsport this time round, the gloves will be off!

Membership Officer — Jamie Gilbert

Jamie joined the Club in 2012, competing on a regular basis in club championship events with my HSV E2 Clubsport, which is now caged and only driven at race events.  I have entered Targa West/South West a few times and loving it..  In 2017 secured a Gen F GTSR, love that car too.  Also in 2017 I Won the overall Club Championship in the Clubsport.

Lots of memories with my E2 Clubby when it was a daily driver...  I drove it from Perth to Brisbane via the Great Ocean Road, Sydney, Grand Pacific Drive, then returning via Bathurst :-)

Born & Bred in the UK, I spent much of my life watching F1 on Sat/Sundays, and used to enjoy a trip to Sillverstone every now and again, along with a healthy dose of Touring cars.. On arriving in OZ, I knew I had to get myself a V8 at some point..  I own/run a IT Company (JAF Solutions) which provides SAP Consulting services around Perth and Brisbane, so an I nerd at heart!

Apart from the Membership duties, my Focus is on the Website which was design by myself (graphics by Matt) and also keeping the facebook page updated with interesting content for everyone, oh and improving my track driving skills!!

Motorsport Manager— Rob Presig

I joined the club in early 2017 after having my passion for motorsport reignited on the passenger ride day in 2016.  Promptly bought a HSV VY R8 Clubsport  on a budget and did as many track days as I could in 2017. I enjoy trying to improve my driving on the track and on the car in the work shop when I get time.

My wife Sandra and I live in the Bickley Valley with a small orchard and vines etc. During the week I drive a desk in the city instead as the Executive Manager Strategic Assets for Masonic Care WA.

My other interests include building a hot rod, our orchard & garden and renovating as well as having a glass or two of wine with Sandra at the end of a weekends work.

As a new committee member I am hoping to give back to the club for the welcome and support that everyone has given me. I will endeavor to maintain the high standard of the events calendar that already exists and to bring some new motorsport events and interesting challenges to the club where possible.

Media Officer — Reese Kelly

Hello, I’m Reese I’m brand new to the club of 2019, after owning a few fast cars in my time I thought I would join well naturally the HSV Owners Club of WA after finally completing a four year build on my VL commodore. The club has accepted me with open arms and I am really enjoying the club.

I work as a facilities manager at the Charlie Gairdner Hospital and have a 1 daughter with currently in March my wife pregnant with our second child due in May, my passion is being a father and have always wanted kids, I look forward to one day showing them the ropes around working on cars or even racing cars if they choose.

Over the years I have owned a few HSV's and my favourite was my VZ Clubsport that was making around 400 hp, I did need to sell the VZ a few years ago due to buying a house with my wife, but once we got that house I was straight back to the cars with myself picking up a VL commodore to slowly make to suit myself, it now has a supercharged 304 and will be dyno very shortly to see power figures, look out fellas.

Merchandise Officer — Leonie Hall

Hi everyone! I am the very proud owner of an E2 Clubby. She is my first but hopefully not my last HSV. I joined the club in 2017 mostly with the intention of going along on a few cruises and maybe displaying in show-n-shines. Just a couple of years later and here I am a fully-fledged member of the committee.

Away from the club I am a Branch Coordinator/Administrator for a large Australian owned workplace needs company. So if you are ever in need of stationery I am the person to see.

Very much looking forward to being the Merchandise Officer and hopefully getting to know as many members as possible

Social Events - Trevor James

I joined the club in 2009 after a life time of being a motor sport fan. I am currently the proud owner of one of the first factory backed  performance cars in a VC Brock Commodore and also one of the last with a VF R8 Sportswagon.

My day job is a self employed carpenter, I also enjoy 4WD and getting out to far off places with the camper-trailer in tow.

I have previously been on the committee as Social Event co-ordinator, vice president and president. I left the committee in 2015 to travel making sure to take in many race meetings and car related sights along the way, Ferrari in Maranello and Cape York very different but both highlights. I am happy to be back at the club and looking forward to some social activities of varying types and some track time.

Associates Representative - Greg Wright

Greg joined the club in 2011 as an associate member, with this year being his first on the committee.  He enjoys bringing his Audi RS4 out at the club trackdays to chase the HSV’s around.

Away from the club, Greg works as a mechanical engineer in the oil and gas project world.  He also likes to do the mechanicals on zee Audi, modding the suspension, brakes and exhaust to put his personal touch on the car (and to keep fighting it out with the later model HSV’s on the track).

He is the father of 3 young children who also like to get out to the track with the other member’s families during the year.  The HSVOCWA club is a great family minded club to dabble in our passion for Motorsport, I look forward to my time on the committee as the Associate Rep.
